“It’s like in that moment, the whole universe existed just to bring us together.” ~ Serendipity
Most people move through life searching for that one true love, their twin flame, that one special person they are meant to spend the rest of our life with, like what happens in fairy tales and the movies.
A relationship between twin flames is believed to be the ultimate love relationship. It is the stuff movies are made of. It’s the story of two people who are destined to be together – the perfect romance. But what exactly are twin flames, and are they real or just another fairy tale?
According to experts, your twin flame, also called twin soul, is literally the other half of your soul. Twin flames are formed when the soul split after it is created. Most of us are familiar with the concept of soulmate. A twin flame has similarities with a soulmate, but the connection is at a much deeper level between twin flames.
What is the difference between a soulmate and twin flame?
A soul mate is someone you share a strong connection with. Contrary to some beliefs, you do not have to be in a romantic relationship with your soul mate. We can have many soul mates in our lifetime. Your soul mate can be a friend, teacher, or family member. Our soul aligns with them, and they can change and influence our soul on a deep level. Your soulmate’s purpose is to help you grow and evolve into your fullest potential. Once they have performed their role in your life, they often move on.
Unlike soul mates that come and go, you only have one twin flame throughout eternity. Some experts believe that because you are made of the same energy, you and your twin flame will be attracted to each other like magnets; therefore, you are bound to meet. Others say that you only meet your twin flame during your last life on Earth, which means not everyone will have a chance to meet their twin flame.
What happens when twin flames meet?
When you meet your twin flame, there will be an instant connection, a sense of recognition. You will know that a very important person has entered your life and your life will be changed.
However, meeting your twin flame is not without challenges, pains, and frustrations. Meeting your twin flame doesn’t guarantee that that two of you will end up in a romantic relationship. You might meet at different stages of your life, and the circumstances may not allow the relationship. For example, one of you may already be committed to someone else. Or there is a huge age gap, or one or both are not yet ready for the journey together.
Others believe that the meeting can be challenging, even explosive. Because you and your twin flame are made from the same soul, you are mirrors of each other. Your soulmate reflects facets of yourself, which, if positive, could strengthen your connection together. However, the union could awaken aspects of yourself that you are running away from, the parts of yourself that you are not ready to accept just yet. Coming face to face with your twin flame could trigger your greatest fears and insecurities. You might feel unsettled, confused, scared, and imbalanced and feel the need to run away.
While experts may not always agree about the concept of twin flames, one thing they agree on is that the relationship between twin flames can only succeed when the two individuals have learned to love and accept themselves unconditionally. So instead of focusing on finding that ideal person who can complete you, focus on your inner quest – on accepting and appreciating who you are and becoming the best version of yourself.
